Join poet Monica de la Haye for a relaxed workshop exploring nature, place and the changes happening around us.
Monica lives near Johnshaven and writes poetry inspired by the natural world and by the sharp, surprising observations people make about it. She believes in poetry’s power to help us look and listen more carefully — to the landscape, to each other and to what may otherwise go unnoticed.
Taking inspiration from films screening at LandxSea Film Festival 2026, Monica will use gentle prompts and creative exercises to guide participants towards their own poems.
No previous writing experience is needed. Whether you already write poetry or are trying it for the first time, you are warmly welcome.
Please bring something to write with, along with your curiosity.

About the Workshop Leader
Monica de la Haye
Poet and Workshop Leader
Monica de la Haye is a poet based near Johnshaven whose work explores nature, place and our relationships with changing landscapes. Her poetry has appeared in a range of magazines, and she recently created a community poem for the Sea Change Project in Montrose, reflecting on the effects of coastal erosion on the town.
Workshop Tickets
All PoP Shop workshop tickets are £5.
We want our workshops to be affordable, welcoming and open to as many people as possible. Every place is subsidised through donations and festival fundraising, and your £5 ticket helps cover the tutor, venue and materials.
Spaces are limited, with most workshops able to welcome only 10–20 people. Please book only when you are confident you can attend. When plans change, let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the place to someone else.

Free places are available through our Community Ticket Fund. When the workshop cost is a barrier, please contact us — we want these activities to be open to everyone.
