Montrose LandxSea Film Festival is seeking up to three new Trustees to join our volunteer Board.
This is an exciting moment in our development. As LandxSea’s programmes, partnerships and audiences continue to grow, we are looking for thoughtful and committed people who can help guide the charity’s strategy, governance and long-term sustainability.
You do not need previous board experience. We are interested in the skills, perspectives, connections and lived experience you could bring to LandxSea.
Trustee Role at a Glance
- Role: Charity Trustee / Board Member
- Organisation: Montrose LandxSea Film Festival SCIO, a registered Scottish Charity (SC053626)
- Location: Meetings are held online or in Montrose
- Commitment: Quarterly Board meetings, plus occasional preparation or support
- Term: Agreed on appointment in accordance with the charity’s constitution
- Remuneration: Voluntary and unpaid; reasonable agreed expenses may be reimbursed
- Vacancies: Up to three new Trustees
About LandxSea
LandxSea is a young and ambitious environmental film charity based in Montrose, Angus. We bring together film, creativity and community to explore environmental and social change, with a strong sense of place and a spirit of care.
Since our first festival in 2023, LandxSea has developed into a year-round platform for environmental cinema, conversation and participation. Our work now includes the annual LandxSea Film Festival, regular LandxSea Monthly screenings, youth and schools activity, artist-led projects and partnerships with environmental, cultural and community organisations.
Two-year support from Screen Scotland and Film Hub Scotland is helping us strengthen our core activity through spring 2027. In 2026, we are delivering our fourth annual festival, expanding our year-round programme and developing new opportunities for young people, artists, filmmakers and community partners.
LandxSea is rooted in collaboration, curiosity and shared responsibility. We are looking for Trustees who value that approach.

What Does a Trustee Do?
Montrose LandxSea Film Festival is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, registered charity number SC053626. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.
Trustees provide independent oversight and help ensure that the charity is well run, financially responsible and delivering its charitable purposes.
Governance
Help ensure that LandxSea meets its legal, financial and charitable responsibilities.
Strategy
Contribute to discussions about LandxSea’s direction, priorities, impact and long-term sustainability.
Oversight
Review budgets, financial reports, policies, risks and significant organisational decisions.
Advocacy
Act as a supportive ambassador for LandxSea and help build relevant relationships and opportunities.
Trustees do not manage the festival’s day-to-day delivery. That is the responsibility of the Festival Director and staff team. The Board’s role is to provide oversight, support and strategic direction.
What We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from people who connect with LandxSea’s purpose and can contribute constructively to a collaborative Board.
We are particularly interested in experience, knowledge or networks in one or more of the following areas:
This list is not exhaustive. You may bring relevant experience from professional work, volunteering, community involvement, education or your own lived experience.
Who Should Apply?
You do not need to have served on a charity Board before. New Trustees will receive an induction, guidance and access to the documents and information needed to take part confidently.
We strongly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within environmental, cultural and charitable leadership. This includes, but is not limited to, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled and neurodivergent people, and people from working-class, rural or coastal communities.
We also welcome applications from people living in Montrose and Angus, as well as those elsewhere in Scotland or beyond who can contribute relevant skills, experience or connections.
We recognise that not everyone will meet every area listed above. An interest in LandxSea’s work, sound judgement, a willingness to learn and the ability to contribute collaboratively are just as important.

Applications are welcomed on a rolling basis and are normally considered at the Board meeting held near the end of each quarter: March, June, September and December.
