Be part of something meaningful.
Our volunteers help make LandxSea happen: welcoming guests, supporting events, guiding audiences, and creating the warm, community-centred atmosphere that makes the festival so special.
Whether you're based in Montrose or visiting for the weekend, there are lots of ways to get involved.
We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds — no experience needed. What matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, and willingness to be part of a team that cares.
Festival Volunteer roles include:
- Ushering & front-of-house – welcoming guests, helping audiences get seated, and keeping screenings running smoothly
- Audience awards – handing out and collecting ballots for our festival-favourite voting
- Environmental stewarding – supporting zero waste practices, recycling, and accessibility across events
- Roving comms support – capturing social media moments, vox pops, and helping with our ‘Green Speak Out’ project
- Guest & artist support – assisting filmmakers and speakers with logistics, hospitality, and on-the-ground coordination
- Venue setup & decoration – helping transform our spaces with signage, displays, and thoughtful touches
- Community events & activities – supporting beach dooks, family workshops, pop-ups, and creative happenings
Further ways to get involved:
- Hosting a filmmaker – offering local accommodation for a guest (if you're based in or near Montrose!)
- Joining the Screening Team — our volunteer team that works behind the scenes to review the many film submissions sent to the festival each year. A way to further develop critical film appreciation skills.
- Joining the Festival Committee – for those looking to contribute more deeply year-round, helping to shape the programme, plan events and activities, support community outreach, and grow the festival behind the scenes. Learn more about this role →
- Becoming a Trustee - Montrose LandxSea Film Festival SCIO is a Registered Charity in Scotland (SC053626) and governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees. Learn more about this role →
You’ll get:
- A behind-the-scenes view of how the festival runs
- A LandxSea crew pass (free access to films when not on shift)
- A chance to meet visiting filmmakers, artists, and local changemakers
- Our heartfelt thanks, and probably a few sea-themed surprises
Sound like you?
Whether you're free for a few hours, the full weekend, or throughout the year, we’d love to hear from you.
