Take the plunge! Brave the North Sea and celebrate our coastal community at LandxSea’s signature Montrose Beach Dook.
It wouldn’t be LandxSea without the Montrose Beach Dook ("Dip"). Join festival guests, filmmakers, local swimmers, families and friends for a joyful Sunday-morning dip in the North Sea.
Whether you’re an experienced open-water swimmer, an occasional dooker or trying it for the first time, everyone is welcome to take part. Bracing North Sea dips not your thing? Stay dry and cheer on the dookers from the dunes instead.
Bring a towel, a friend and a sense of adventure.

Swimming Safely
Please remember that everyone enters the water at their own risk.
Conditions at Montrose Beach can change quickly. Please assess the sea, weather and temperature on the day, and consider your own health, confidence and open-water experience before taking part.
Stay within your depth, enter and leave the water carefully, and do not feel any pressure to remain in the water longer than feels comfortable. Children must remain under the close supervision of a responsible adult.
For more guidance, visit the Outdoor Swimming Society’s safety advice →

The meeting point is reached by following a wooden boardwalk onto the beach. The Dook itself takes place on sand and at the water’s edge.
