From the wild blue waters around the Scottish islands to the shallow delta of the Low Countries and up along the dramatic coastline of the Norwegian fjords, North Sea, Nature Untamed is a cinematic adventure and a voyage of discovery that will show the North Sea in all its glory.

About the filmmaker:

Mark Verkerk is an award-winning filmmaker with over 40 years of experience in documentary film and television. Born in Nairobi and trained at the London International Film School, he joined the Australian broadcaster ABC in 1980 and launched his own production company. Mark has directed acclaimed features including Buddha’s Lost Children (2006 Oscar entry), The New Wilderness, Holland–The Living Delta, and Wild Amsterdam. As a long-time collaborator with EMS Films, his work spans National Geographic, Discovery, ARTE, and ZDF.
About the speaker:

Peter van Rodijnen is a self-taught underwater cinematographer whose passion began while diving on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. A graduate of the Technical University of Amsterdam, he has spent the past decade capturing the unseen beauty of marine life. His work has featured in acclaimed series and films such as Holland–Nature in the Delta, Wild Amsterdam, and Silence of the Tides. For North Sea, Nature Untamed, he undertook the challenge of filming never-before-seen underwater footage.

About the filmmaker:
Ted Simpson is a documentary filmmaker and co-founder of Scout Studio, telling cinematic stories from the wild edges where society and nature meet. He specialises in environmental storytelling that combines human emotion with science communication. A two-time winner of Best Environmental Film at the Banff Mountain Film Festival, including for The Eagle With The Sunlit Eye (Closing Night film at LandxSea 2024), Simpson is based in Cornwall and works internationally across broadcast, branded content, and independent film.
