Free Community Tickets
We believe cinema should be for everyone. If cost is a barrier, free tickets are available—no questions asked. Just choose the option online, call us, or speak to the box office.
The Small Print
- Print or scan: Individual tickets can be printed at home, scanned from your phone, or collected at the box office, which opens 30 minutes before the first show daily.
- Punctual start: Films start on time. No trailers or ads; doors open 15 minutes before each screening.
- Guest Q&As: Most screenings include intros or guest Q&As. Check the programme. Filmmaker and guest attendance is never guaranteed.
- One Pass: LandxSea Film Festival is exempt from all Montrose Playhouse memberships—a separate purchased ticket is required.
- Final sales: All ticket sales are final—no refunds, exchanges, or replacements. Unused tickets convert to donations supporting year-round programming.
Q&As, Conversations & Community
Most films are followed by live Q&As or community conversations with filmmakers, artists, scientists, and local changemakers. We also host free community events — beach swims, workshops, artist talks, and more. Check the full programme for details.
Stay Sustainable
We aim to tread lightly while gathering meaningfully. Here’s how you can help:
- Bring your own cup or bottle
- Walk, cycle, or use public transport
- Use recycling and compost bins provided
- Support our community food and drink partners
- Take a Green Pledge after the film
Our Venue: Montrose Playhouse | Cinema & Arts Centre
Our festival home is the Montrose Playhouse, a community-owned cinema and arts hub transformed from a 1960s swimming pool into a modern, accessible, multi-screen venue.
On-site you’ll find:
- Three modern cinemas with wheelchair-accessible seating
- A friendly café/bar for food, drinks, and conversation
- Accessible toilets, hearing loops, and step-free entry (more Access info →)
- Extra space for exhibitions, workshops, and creative events
Festival volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend — look for the lanyards and smiles!
