A NEW KIND OF WILDERNESS by Silje Evensmo Jacobsen
In the lush forests of Norway, the Payne family lives off-grid, raising their four children in harmony with nature.
Maria and Nik strive for self-sufficiency, homeschooling their kids and building a life of freedom and connection. But when tragedy strikes, this isolated existence is shattered, forcing Nik to confront the challenges of an uncertain future in modern society.
Director Silje Evensmo Jacobsen spent years capturing the Paynes’ extraordinary life, creating an intimate and moving portrait of resilience, change, and the meaning of home - it earned her the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema - Documentary at Sundance 2024.

MAKE IT TO MUNICH by Martyn Robertson + Filmmaker/Cast Q&A
After a devastating car accident shatters his dream of a football career, young Scot Ethan Walker is left recovering from life-threatening injuries.
Inspired by his surgeon Gordon Mackay, Ethan embarks on a 1,200km cycle from Glasgow to Munich to deliver Scotland’s official match pennant for the opening game of the 2024 Euros.
Facing brutal weather and physical limits, Ethan, Gordon, filmmaker Martyn Robertson, and Tartan Army fan Stephen Collie set off on their quest, powered by resilience, humour, and heart.
"This little gem of a documentary shows a side of Scottish manhood we seldom see in our nation’s art.” - Neil Mackay | The Herald
Screening followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Martyn Robertson and film's cyclists Ethan Walker and Prof. Gordon Mackay.
📅 Thursday, 12 June 🕕 7:30 PM 📍 Montrose Playhouse
