Free and open to all, this hands-on workshop invites you to create colourful leaf-hammer bunting to help decorate Montrose Playhouse for LandxSea Film Fest 2026.

We’ll use natural dyes and the hapa zome technique — hammering leaves and flowers onto cotton to transfer their colours and shapes. You’ll then decorate and embellish your bunting pieces with textile markers.

The finished bunting will be displayed at Montrose Playhouse during LandxSea Film Fest 2026, taking place from 11–13 September. After the festival, you’ll be able to take your pieces home.

NOTE: Leaf bunting involves using hammers, this activity is suitable for all ages, but parents please take care with children!

The workshop is led by Frida Mittmann, LandxSea’s Community Events and Outreach Coordinator. Frida is also an illustrator and has worked with young people for more than 10 years, leading outdoor craft workshops and creative activities.

This event is part of MUGS — Montrose Urban Guerrillas, a ProMo: Montrose Development & Improvement project focusing on outdoor improvements around the town.
