Your pass includes one ticket for each of the festival's ten screenings, including Opening Night. After purchasing it, you must reserve your seat for each screening online, by phone or at the box office. There is no additional charge.

Supporter Passes offer the same admission as Standard Passes, with the additional contribution helping LandxSea provide free tickets for young people and anyone facing financial barriers.

Please note: Admission remains subject to seat availability, so early reservation is recommended.

If the cost of attending is a barrier, free Community Tickets are available. Simply choose the Community Ticket option when booking online, call the Playhouse or speak to the box office team — no explanation needed.

Travel light where you can.

Montrose sits on Scotland’s north-east coast, between Dundee and Aberdeen. We encourage visitors to choose lower-carbon travel options such as train, bus, coach, cycling or shared journeys wherever practical. Montrose has good public transport connections from across Scotland and the UK, including direct rail services and the overnight Caledonian Sleeper from London. If you do need to fly, we recommend using public transport for your onward journey to Montrose where possible.

Secure bicycle racks are available in the Playhouse car park, and local coastal paths offer scenic approaches to the venue.

Local stops are within approximately 150 metres of the venue:

• North Street: services 9, 30, 30B, 47 and 47A.
• Mount Avenue: service 52.

Regional Bus & Coach Services

Stagecoach X7: regional service between Aberdeen and Dundee, stopping in Montrose.

Ember: Ember operates frequent all-electric coach services to Montrose on its coastal route between Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen. This is a convenient option for visitors travelling from Dundee, Arbroath, Perth or Aberdeen.

By Train

Montrose Station is served by regular direct ScotRail services from Dundee, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, with connections from elsewhere in Scotland and the UK; and direct LNER services to and from Kings X.

The Caledonian Sleeper between London Euston and Aberdeen also stops at Montrose, offering a convenient overnight option for travel to and from London.

Montrose railway station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the cinema. A taxi rank and local bus stops are also available near the station.

Glasgow: 2 hours

By Taxi

A taxi rank is available at Montrose railway station. The Playhouse is only a short journey away, making this a useful option for visitors with luggage or accessibility requirements.

By Car

Montrose is on the A92.

The Playhouse has free parking behind the building, accessed from North Street, with additional street parking in the surrounding town centre.

By Air

Dundee Airport is the closest airport to Montrose, with scheduled flights including London Heathrow. Dundee city centre has direct rail and coach connections to Montrose.

Aberdeen Airport is another convenient option, with onward connections through Aberdeen city centre by train, bus or coach to Montrose.

Edinburgh Airport offers the widest range of domestic and international connections, with easy tram and rail links for onward travel to Montrose via Edinburgh or Dundee.
