LandxSea Presents: Trump Trilogy — US Election Special

LandxSea Presents: Trump Trilogy — US Election Special

As the US approaches its 2024 election on 5th November, decisions that affect the environment have never been more critical. LandxSea presents a special weekend of films exploring how unchecked development and political influence impact our ecosystems and local communities. These documentaries reflect the urgent need to stand up for environmental protections and sustainable practices.

In the lead-up to the election, this Trump Trilogy offers a unique perspective on how powerful interests, like Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire developments, can leave lasting scars on the environment and local populations. Directed by Montrose-based Anthony Baxter, these films explore the long-term environmental consequences of large-scale developments, particularly in Scotland and beyond. See all three together on the big screen for the first time!

Saturday, 2nd November at 7:30pm: You've Been Trumped Too + Q&A

A follow-up to You've Been Trumped, this film documents the ongoing impact of the Menie Estate development on local residents, particularly a 92-year-old Scottish widow, and raises important questions about sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

The screening will be followed by a live onstage Q&A with director Anthony Baxter, and film’s participants Suzanne Kelly, a Private Eye journalist and former contributor to the Aberdeen Voice who started the 2015 Trump petition to prevent Donald Trump from entering the UK after his call to ban Muslims from entering the US; and Rohan Beyts, an Aberdeenshire land access activist who took on the Trump Organization in a landmark legal action.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT NOW?

These films are not just a reflection on Donald Trump’s developments, including the newly approved golf course in Aberdeenshire, but a reminder of the need for environmental protections in the face of global challenges. The ongoing battle against powerful interests, led by everyday heroes like a 92-year-old Scottish widow, shows that the fight for environmental justice is for everyone—no matter the odds.

These stories remind us that environmental protections are not just about preserving landscapes—they’re about defending communities, homes, and futures. As the 2024 election looms, the importance of sustainable policies becomes ever clearer.

Join us for this special LandxSea US Election Special weekend to engage with these important environmental themes.

Stay tuned for guest announcements and discussions with key figures from the films.
