Father Earth

Just Added: 'Father Earth' + Graham Fellows Q&A

Father Earth is the true story of one man’s attempt to help save the planet by converting a derelict church on a windswept island in Orkney into an eco friendly recording studio, having driven a G Wiz electric car there all the way from London.

That’s the plan, but Life and Relationships - specifically between fathers and sons - can get in the way, appearing even more important than the future of the planet!

Starring Graham Fellows as himself, and his comic alter ego John Shuttleworth - with special guest appearances by Kids’ TV legends Sooty and Sweep.

Join us for this special screening on 17th Sept at 12:00pm at the Montrose Playhouse. An event not to be missed!

Swapnaa Tamhane and the Golden Fibre exhibit at the V&A Dundee

Unraveling Jute's Hidden Histories at V&A Dundee: The Golden Fibre Exhibit

We're thrilled to shine a spotlight on V&A Dundee's captivating exhibit, Swapnaa Tamhane: The Golden Fibre. Embark on a journey through the stories of jute, a fabric intertwining Dundee's history with distant shores. Artist and curator Swapnaa Tamhane delves into the multi-layered story of jute during British colonialism, drawing from invaluable archives at the University of Dundee and Verdant Works.

A must-see is the mirror installation titled Tum Banglá mat bolo, ham kuchh nahín samajhtá hai (You don’t speak Bengali, I can’t understand anything.) which powerfully reflects the colonial mindset of Scottish managers in Bengali jute mills. For a deeper insight into Tamhane's work, explore the exhibit's extensive online resources.

The Golden Thread by Nishtha Jain

A Bridge to LandxSea Film Fest

After immersing yourself in the exhibit, don't miss the 15th September Opening Night UK Premiere of The Golden Thread by Nishtha Jain in Montrose. This documentary creates a profound dialogue with the V&As The Golden Fibre exhibit, further enriching our local narrative. We're honoured to have Mel Oakley, collections curator for Dundee Heritage Trust, for our Q&A on the 15th.

The journey continues on 17th September at the DCA in Dundee, with V&A Dundee curator Meredith More guiding the discussion.

Notably, filmmaker Nishtha Jain will attend both screenings in person, travelling to the festival from Mumbai.
