SCREENING FORMATS
Â
All films must be in English or have English subtitles.
Preferred Format:
- DCP (Digital Cinema Package)
Additional Formats:
- Digital files (MP4, H264, Pro Res, .MOV)
- Please send digital files ASAP to allow time for conversion, ingestion, and testing.
Not Accepted:
- DVD or BluRay formats. (but if this is you only option, contact us - we'll do our best to make it work).

Accessibility:
Please send a subtitled version if you have it. (even if your film is in English).
If available, please also send a closed caption file (e.g. CC in the CPL). We're piloting use of Watchword Smart Glasses at this year's festival to offer captioning on demand for audience members.

To help us promote your screening and ensure your film gets the spotlight it deserves, please send the following as soon as possible:

🗓️ Programme announcement: 6 August 2025 (full press release, box office and printed programme launch).

Images & Poster:
Send the largest resolution files available,. These may be used in our printed programme, website, social media, press, and venue displays.
Bio & Film Info:
Please send an EPK if you have it, or let us know a bit about you and your film. If there are any links to Scotland, Montrose, or the Angus region, we’d love to know! Feel free to include any press coverage, awards, impact campaigns, or social media links.
Trailers & Clips: (optional for short films)
If available, please send a digital file we can upload to our channels, or a shareable link. Broadcast-quality clips (2–3 minutes) may be used for TV/media promotion.
Screeners:
If your film is not BBFC certified, we must receive a screener by 23 July for local authority licencing. A screener for press is also appreciated if available.

If you are traveling to Montrose, this will be available at your hotel reception desk on arrival.
If you live locally, this will be available from Opening Night on 12 Sept at the Montrose Playhouse Box Office.

Your Screening Q&A

There will be a post-film Q&A. You are also welcome to say a few words of introduction before the screening. Please arrive at Screen 1 (upstairs at the Montrose Playhouse) at least 15 minutes before your start time; the show MC will run through details with you.

Please be aware that we will have a person live captioning all of the Q&As in the cinema. These will appear on-screen.
